In 1978 the Department of Education began acquiring land in order to establish a new high school in the Caboolture District. Such a development was very much needed as the population of the area was growing rapidly. Numerous new housing estates were being developed to cope with an influx of new residents - many of them families with children. This put increased pressure on the sole high school in the area, Caboolture State High School . As enrolments skyrocketed the need for another high school on the south side of the Caboolture River became a priority. So with land resumed, construction began in 1980 on what was to become Morayfield State High School .

The School opened on 27 th January, 1981 with Mr Keith O'Dempsey as the inaugural principal. In its first year it catered for year 8 students and by May, 1981 had reached an enrolment of 133 students.

From these humble beginnings Morayfield High School has grown into a school of over 1000 students in years 8 to 12. It offers a wide range of curricular, cultural and sporting experiences and opportunities for the young people of Caboolture and has become an established and integral part of the life of this community. Many of its students have gone on to success in the world of science, business, the arts and sport. As it passes its 25 th anniversary the future looks positive for another quarter of a century and beyond of educational excellence and service to its community.
